Monday Pisgah Hikers Spring 2012 Schedule
March 26 35F Sam Knob
3.2mi, 300’cl, R3, $5.00
This Monday version of the Sam Knob hike is a round tripper from the Sam Knob parking lot, across the meadow and to the top of Sam Knob. While up there we will visit each of the two knobs and have lunch on one of them.
April 2 62N Ravencliff Falls
4.5 mi, 890’cl, R5, $3.50
We drop down from the Ravencliff parking on US276 in SC for lunch at the Falls overlook and exit via the dirt road to US276 and hike up to our cars.
April 9 65B Rainbow Falls
5mi, 900’cl, R6, $5.00
We hike to Rainbow Falls and back from the new trailhead in Gorges State Park.
April 16 35J Pisgah Ridge ( Shuttle & Lunch at Pisgah Inn)
4 mi, 600’cl, R3, $6.00
We enter the Pisgah Ridge trail where it crosses the Parkway opposite the Black Balsam Road junction with the parkway and after a side trip to Skinny Dip Falls. We come out at Looking Glass Overlook.
April 23 58C Perry Cove
4.4mi, 360’cl, R4, $1.50
Starting from Bennett Gap we hike down the Bennett Gap and Perry Cove trails and exit to our shuttle via the Bennett Gap, after a side trip to our lunch spot. Our total descent is 1600 feet.
April 30 36A Middle & Upper Yellowstone Falls
3.0mi, 300’cl, R2, $6.00
We go down the north steps from Graveyard Parking and after poking around in both directions we return over the new bridge and up the south steps to our cars.
May 7 65T Upper Whitewater Fall
5.0 mi, 900’cl, R6, $7.00
This is a round tripper from the Bad Creek parking lot, turning back from the foot of the Upper Falls
May 14 26B Pilot Mountain
3 mi, 560’cl, R2, $4.00
Our annual Pink Shells hike. We will check out the falls at Living Waters and then drive by Gloucester Gap to the end of the Forest Road. We hike up the 23 switchbacks for lunch atop Pilot Mountain and return to our cars
May 21 33A Devils Courthouse/ Flat Laurel Creek Devil’s Courthouse
5mi, 440’cl, R5, $7.00
Starting from Devil’s Courthouse parking, we go to the summit and then back down to the MTS, Little Sam and Flat Laurel Creek trails to our shuttle on NC215.
May 28 John Rock
4mi, 950’cl, R6, $2.00
This version of the assault on John Rock starts at the Fish Hatchery, takes the left hand side of the Cat Gap Loop Trail and then ascends via the John Rock Trail for lunch on the rock. We return to our cars by retracing our steps.

June 6 (Wednesday) Annual Picnic at Pink Beds
Short hike, R2, $3.50
At the Pink Beds Shelter, for dues-paying members and their spouses. There is a $2.00 charge per person. Please sign up by May 30. We’ll be looking for volunteers for slaw, baked beans, desserts, etc. The club will furnish the char-broiled hot dogs and trimmings. Bring your own drinks. There will be two pre-lunch hikes in the Pink Beds area.
June 11 Promontory Stump
3 mi, 200’cl, R1, $4.00
We start at the MTS crossing of US276 and take the MTS to the Buck Spring Trail, with a stop at Promontory Stump to see the golden rock and seashell and exit to our shuttle on US276 via the Buck Spring Trail

From the Big East Fork trailhead on US 276 about 2.5 miles upstream and back or about 3 miles upstream to the rocks for lunch and back
37D Hike # 2 Bridges Camp/Big East Fork
4.5 mi, 750’cl , R5, $5.50
This hike is from Looking Glass overlook about 2¼ miles down the Bridges Camp and Big East Fork trails to lunch on the rocks and return.
June 25 23A Daniel Creek/Lanning Ridge

Starting at the entrance to the old Fish Rearing Station on Davidson River Road, we go around the Daniel Creek and Lanning Ridge loop with a visit to Hamilton Neill Falls on the way out.
