SCHEDULE FOR FRIDAY EASY HIKERS

"born to be wild"

Easy Hikers go at an easier pace and with more stops than any of the other groups. These hikes are about 3 miles in length, usually have no more than 300’ of climb and are generally less than 3 hours in duration.

The meeting place is along the curb line of the BiLo parking lot overlooking the Pizza Hut. If you want to hike you must be at the parking lot no later than 915am

Bring Lunch, bring water, a good sense of humor also helps.

Pay your driver the fee shown for the hike. The current fee is calculated at 36 cents per mile for the round trip distance between the parking lot and the trailhead and will be used while the lowest posted gasoline price at the Brevard Ingles is between $2.50 and $3.00 per gallon.

Nov 13     E76A       Explore Kuykendall

Between 2 and 3 miles, about 200’cl, R1, $1.50

We hike the Kuykendall Campground road off Cathy’s Creek road and pick up the roadbed that goes past the old chimney and turn back when we have had enough. Two slippery slopes to go down and then come back up, but with helping hands we all did it last time.

Nov 20     E80S       Triple and High Falls at Dupont State Park

Between 2 and 3 miles, about 200’cl, R1, $2.00

From the Hooker Falls Parking lot we will go up the Galax trail to the foot of High Falls, with a view of Triple Falls on the way with lunch along Little River on the way back.

Nov 27     E80H       The Nooks and Little River Falls

Between 2 and 3 miles, about 100’cl, R1, $2.00

We start at the Corn Shoals parking lot and hike around The Nooks Loop and return to our cars with a side trip to Little River Falls for lunch

Dec 4     E23A      Daniel Ridge

3 miles, about 300’, R2, $1.50

A round trip hike along Davidson River at Daniel Ridge with a side trip to the Hamilton-Neill Falls

Dec 11     E16B       Promontory Stump

3 miles, about 300’, R2, $2.50

We start at the MTS crossing of US276 and take the MTS to the Buck Spring Trail, with a stop at Promontory Stump to see the golden treasures and exit to our shuttle on US276 via the Buck Spring Trai

Dec 18     E57J        Avery Creek-Buckhorn Gap

About 3 miles, 200’cl, R1, $1.50

We walk down the road from the Buckhorn Gap trailhead and hike along the Avery Creek trail, pick up a little piece of the Clawhammer Cove Trail and exit over the Buckhorn Gap Trail to our cars.
